Early Heatwave in Gurye Reaches Up to 34°C, Continuing Until the 25th... Cooling Down from the 26th

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Junho] In some areas of Gwangju and Jeonnam, the daytime high temperature exceeded 30 degrees Celsius, and the early heat is expected to continue until the 25th.

According to the Gwangju Regional Meteorological Administration on the 24th, the daytime high temperature in the Gurye area reached 34 degrees Celsius, while Hwasun, Gangjin, and Gokseong rose to 33 degrees.

Gwangju, Yeongam, Suncheon, Gwangyang, Jangheung, and Boseong recorded 32 degrees, Naju, Jangseong, and Wando 31 degrees, and Haenam 30 degrees.

This heat is analyzed to be caused by the high pressure system over the West Sea and the inflow of warm and dry west winds, resulting in clear weather and strong sunlight during the day, raising the temperature.

The heat will continue until the 25th, but from the 26th, a trough will pass north of the Korean Peninsula, increasing cloud cover and lowering temperatures to the average level (morning low 13~16 degrees, daytime high 23~27 degrees).

On the 25th, the morning low temperature in the Gwangju and Jeonnam areas will range from 13 to 18 degrees, and the daytime high will be between 25 and 32 degrees. On the 26th, the morning low is expected to be 14 to 17 degrees, and the daytime high 22 to 27 degrees.

On the 26th, some areas in northern Jeonnam may experience raindrops less than 0.1 mm.

Additionally, most areas are expected to have fine dust and ultrafine dust levels at moderate levels.

A meteorological official advised, “Due to the large temperature difference between day and night, caution is needed for health management.”
