Busan City Selected in Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy Contest for 'Industrial Complex Environment Improvement Infrastructure Project' ... Secures 9.7 Billion KRW in National Funding Busan City Hall.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Du-yeol] Busan City has been selected for the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy's public project, the ‘Industrial Complex Environment Improvement Infrastructure Construction Project,’ securing 9.7 billion KRW in national funding over three years.

The ‘Industrial Complex Environment Improvement Infrastructure Construction Project’ is aimed at providing rapid response and technical support to small and medium manufacturing enterprises facing difficulties due to recently strengthened environmental laws and regulations.

The city designated Sinpyeong and Jangrim industrial complexes as pilot project sites in collaboration with Busan Technopark, Korea Environmental Testing & Research Institute, and Busan Machinery Industry Cooperative.

Over the next three years starting this year, a total project cost of 18.7 billion KRW, including 9.7 billion KRW in national funding, will be invested to establish the ‘Busan Industrial Complex Environment Improvement Support Center’ to reduce air pollutants and support related companies.

The ‘Busan Industrial Complex Environment Improvement Support Center Construction Project’ focuses on analyzing non-point pollution sources causing pollution problems in industrial complexes to effectively reduce actual air pollutants.

The main initiatives include ▲establishing IoT-based air quality measurement equipment and on-site verification devices ▲providing services such as real-time monitoring, disaster response guidelines, and environmental maps through the construction and linkage of an integrated management platform ▲supplying customized reduction measures for industrial complexes through on-site demonstration source analysis and supporting the use of equipment for testing and certification of reduction technologies ▲providing specialized education to local companies to supply skilled personnel and related standardization.

Shin Chang-ho, Director of the Industry and Trade Bureau of Busan City, stated, “We will continue to promote environmental improvement in industrial complexes and support related technology development.”
