Chungnam Operates 'Support Program' to Foster Hydrogen Specialized Companies

[Asia Economy (Hongseong) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] Chungnam Province is set to foster hydrogen specialized companies.

The province announced on the 24th that it was recently selected for the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy's '2022 Preliminary Hydrogen Specialized Company Fostering Project,' securing 500 million KRW in national funding.

The hydrogen specialized company fostering project focuses on maximizing outcomes and policy effectiveness based on regional hydrogen industry and company-specific characteristics, providing a support program of up to 70 million KRW per company.

The province plans to invest a total of 800 million KRW, including national funds, over the next year to nurture hydrogen specialized companies.

Chungnam Technopark will offer programs supporting technology, market development, and workforce training for preliminary hydrogen specialized companies seeking technical assistance, including prototype production, testing, evaluation, and certification.

So far, the province has promoted hydrogen-related policies such as the National Innovation Cooperation Zone (Cluster) project for hydrogen energy and the Regulatory Free Zone for hydrogen energy transition, supporting over 70 companies through various support projects.

A provincial official stated, "Being selected in the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy's competition will serve as a stepping stone for Chungnam to foster hydrogen specialized companies leading the activation of the hydrogen economy. We will smoothly carry out the support project to strengthen the competitiveness of local hydrogen-related companies and help companies continuously create new jobs for local talent."
