CityLabs "Jeju Smart City Challenge Project, e-Mobility-Bus Transfer Integration"

[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Hyowon] CityLabs, a smart city integrated platform company, announced on the 23rd that it has signed a multilateral Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Autocrypt and Roca Mobility to develop a bus transfer linkage service for Jeju Special Self-Governing Province.

The Jeju bus transfer linkage service development project is one of the smart mobility elements of the MaaS service platform 'GreeGo' under the '2021 Jeju Special Self-Governing Province Smart City Challenge' project, for which CityLabs was selected as the main operator last year. MaaS stands for 'Mobility as a Service,' a new mobility service that integrates information on various modes of transportation such as buses, taxis, railways, and shared vehicles to provide users with optimal travel routes.

CityLabs, responsible for system integration authentication and payment service development, mobility platform developer Autocrypt, and mobility transfer and payment service company Roca Mobility will, starting from this MOU, work together to successfully develop and efficiently operate the bus transfer linkage service. They plan to form a joint task force (TFT) covering all aspects of the project, including idea provision, sharing of technology and know-how, platform development, and stable service operation, with the ultimate goal of creating a competitive platform ecosystem through joint development and service provision of integrated services.

The MOU signing ceremony held at the CityLabs main conference room was attended by CityLabs CEO Jo Youngjoong, Autocrypt Executive Director Jung Kyuhong, Roca Mobility Executive Director Jung Hee, and key project staff.

Jo Youngjoong, CEO of CityLabs, stated, “The bus transfer linkage service is part of the smart hub construction project based on mobility functions and is considered an essential task within the Jeju Smart City Challenge project. Since it is directly connected to public transportation services that touch people's daily lives, we plan to maximize convenience and efficiency through active technical cooperation with the participating companies in this MOU, aiming to establish it as a representative standard model case for the 4th Industrial Revolution smart city in the future.”

CityLabs was selected last year as the main operator for the '2021 Jeju Special Self-Governing Province Smart City Challenge,' a project with a total budget of 22 billion KRW. The 'Smart City Challenge,' led by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, is a new business fostering and support project aimed at implementing comprehensive solutions for the eco-friendly urban smartization of Jeju Island by utilizing creative ideas from local governments and private companies. As the main operator, CityLabs is responsible for overall project management and the development, construction, and utilization of the △GreeGo △e-3DA platforms, which encompass mobility, energy trading, and the sharing economy using blockchain technology.
