Household member information consent and document submission by June 27
[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] The Ministry of Education and the Korea Student Aid Foundation will accept applications for the 2022 academic year second semester National Scholarship from April 24 to June 23.
The National Scholarship is an income-linked scholarship provided to university students whose income and assets are below a certain level, and who meet academic criteria, to alleviate the burden of tuition fees.
Eligible applicants include all university students such as currently enrolled students, freshmen, transfer students, re-enrolled students, and returning students. Applications can be submitted 24 hours a day through the Korea Student Aid Foundation website and mobile app.
When applying for the National Scholarship, Type I & II and the multi-child scholarship are applied for together. Type I is a scholarship linked to income that supports tuition fees, while Type II is supported according to the university’s own standards linked to the university’s efforts to alleviate tuition burdens.
Starting this year, through National Scholarship Type I and the multi-child National Scholarship, students in income brackets 8 and below will be supported annually from 3.5 million KRW up to full tuition coverage. The support range for Type II has been expanded to include students in income bracket 9 who are not eligible for Type I and multi-child National Scholarship.
To receive tuition reduction priority through the National Scholarship, applicants must complete the scholarship application, consent to providing household member information, and submit documents by 6:00 PM on June 3. Since many applicants may access the system on the deadline, it is recommended to apply in advance to avoid connection issues.
Consent to provide household member information and submission of required documents must be completed by 6:00 PM on June 27. Consent can be given using joint certificates, financial certificates, or private certificates. If consent was given after 2015, it can be omitted.
If the family information entered during the scholarship application differs from the resident registration electronic information or Supreme Court family relationship registration electronic information, document submission is required. Applicants must submit documents such as resident registration certificates or family relationship certificates through the foundation’s website or app.
Application results can be checked on the Korea Student Aid Foundation website, and one-on-one customized consultations are available via phone or at regional centers.
