[Cannes (France) = Asia Economy Reporter Lee Isul] The momentum is extraordinary. Rookie director Lee Jung-jae, who premiered his debut work in Cannes, is considered a strong contender for the Cam?ra d'Or. He will meet director Park Chan-wook at the Lumi?re Theater as a nominee.

All the nominees for the Cam?ra d'Or, including Lee Jung-jae, are scheduled to attend the premiere screening of the 75th Cannes Film Festival competition entry "Decision to Leave" (directed by Park Chan-wook) at 6 p.m. on the 23rd (local time) at the Lumi?re Theater. Traditionally, nominees in this category attend the premiere of one of the competition entries together, and this year, coincidentally, it was decided to be a Korean film, specifically a film by director Park Chan-wook.

Rookie director Lee Jung-jae also plans to wear a tuxedo and watch "Decision to Leave" on that day. Actor Jung Woo-sung, who completed the official schedule for "Hunt," will depart on the 23rd, but Lee Jung-jae will stay to handle scheduled events related to the Cam?ra d'Or and other planned schedules.

Lee Jung-jae's directorial debut "Hunt" was invited to the Midnight Screening non-competition section of the 75th Cannes Film Festival and was unveiled through a premiere screening held at the Lumi?re Theater on the 19th.

Lee Jung-jae, who rose to global stardom with "Squid Game," was invited to the Cannes Film Festival this year as a director. He is navigating Cannes with a director's badge pinned to his chest. He is so busy with interviews, meetings, and events with domestic and numerous foreign media that he barely has a moment to breathe.

He is in high demand. Even just standing briefly on the street, Lee Jung-jae received requests for photographs. This was a scene he encountered for the first time during several Cannes Film Festival coverages. Cannes is a place where world-renowned filmmakers like Tilda Swinton and Tang Wei casually walk the streets, and people generally do not pay much attention. It is a place where even masters walk alone carrying bags, so this exceptional attention is notable.

Will he ride this momentum to win the Cam?ra d'Or? This award is decided through judging among all rookie directors invited to the Cannes Film Festival, and Lee Jung-jae, who is presenting his first directorial work in Cannes, was nominated. Given the strong local interest, he is considered a leading candidate for the award.

Jung Woo-sung, who has steadfastly supported Lee Jung-jae throughout the Cannes Film Festival, said, "I hope Lee Jung-jae wins the Cam?ra d'Or." All eyes are on whether Lee Jung-jae will bring news of a win from Cannes.
