[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Gyeonggi Province is additionally recruiting applicants for the 'Gyeonggi Province Youth Living Scholarship,' which provides an annual scholarship of 700,000 to 1,000,000 KRW to economically disadvantaged middle and high school students and out-of-school youth within the province, from the 23rd of this month until the 3rd of next month.
This additional recruitment will be conducted both through in-person visits to administrative welfare centers and online applications via 'Gyeonggi Minwon 24.'
Eligible applicants can visit the 'Gyeonggi Minwon 24' website (gg24.gg.go.kr), sign up as members, fill out the application form online, and submit the required documents. Applications can also be submitted by visiting city/county or eup/myeon/dong administrative welfare centers.
The province plans to select 694 recipients among middle and high school students and out-of-school youth who are National Basic Livelihood Security recipients, legally designated lower-income groups, or those with household incomes at or below 100% of the median income. Middle school students (out-of-school born between 2007 and 2009) will receive 700,000 KRW, and high school students (out-of-school born between 2004 and 2006) will receive 1,000,000 KRW, paid in two installments in June and September. Earlier, the province disbursed living scholarships to 9,708 applicants who applied in March.
An official from the province stated, "Since 2004, Gyeonggi Province has annually supported living scholarships funded by lottery proceeds," adding, "This time, applicants can conveniently apply for the living scholarship online using the internet and smartphones."
