Mr. A is suspected of hanging banners criticizing the candidate near the candidate's campaign office and using a loudspeaker to make statements opposing and criticizing the candidate since the 17th.
Under the current Public Official Election Act, it is prohibited to install or post facilities such as banners or hold rallies and meetings during the election period to influence the election.
A representative of the Gyeyang District Election Commission stated, "With the nationwide simultaneous local elections and the National Assembly by-election just 10 days away, we will strongly respond to violations of the Public Official Election Act," and urged, "Please be especially careful to prevent acts that disrupt election order."
