People Power Party: "Democratic Party's Four Metropolitan Members Insult Regions and Spread False Information... Unfit to Be Candidates"

[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Ju-yeon] On the 22nd, the People Power Party criticized Song Young-gil, the Democratic Party's Seoul mayoral candidate, Lee Jae-myung, the candidate for the Incheon Gyeyang by-election, Park Nam-chun, the Incheon mayoral candidate, and Kim Dong-yeon, the Gyeonggi Province governor candidate, saying, "The four Democratic Party candidates in the metropolitan area who mock residents do not even qualify as candidates."

On the same day, Heo Eun-ah, spokesperson for the People Power Party's Central Election Committee, issued a statement saying, "The four Democratic Party candidates who have thrown their hats into the ring in the metropolitan area should be evaluated by residents through policies and local issues for the community. However, they are polluting the election with regional disparagement and reckless dissemination of false information, further fueling public political disgust."

Targeting candidate Song, spokesperson Heo said, "From the first day of the campaign, he made disparaging remarks such as 'Gangbuk is the poorest area,' and yesterday, referring to Oh Se-hoon's pledge to upgrade rental apartments, he divided the residents of Jungnang-gu by saying, 'Can our Jungnang residents, who are common people, enter places like Tower Palace?'" She criticized, "Song's remarks are a typical 'political division' exaggeration against Oh Se-hoon's pledge to create rental housing that Jungnang residents and other common people in Seoul can live in with pride."

Regarding candidate Lee, she said, "During his time as mayor of Seongnam, he disparaged Incheon by saying on social media to a supporter requesting his candidacy in Incheon, 'Why would you move from Seongnam to Incheon to live?' and during the campaign, he has been at the center of various bizarre incidents wherever he goes." She added, "He pushed a student at a campaign site, poked a female voter's shoulder, climbed onto a bench wearing shoes, and entered a restaurant with shoes on?these daily new antics are ongoing."

Spokesperson Heo also criticized Incheon mayoral candidate Park Nam-chun, saying, "He irresponsibly spreads fake news by mentioning Pocheon without any basis as an alternative landfill site candidate," and regarding Gyeonggi Province governor candidate Kim Dong-yeon, she said, "He went so far as to spread another falsehood that the 'transition committee decided on the matter' related to the alternative landfill," targeting the two candidates as a "lying and shirking responsibility duo."

Heo emphasized, "The four Democratic Party candidates in the metropolitan area, who lack candidate qualifications, are treating this local election like a shopping spree for their political purposes. Unlike the disqualified Democratic four who only disappoint metropolitan voters, the People Power Party will focus solely on candidates and policies in the election."
