Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education Opens Price Verification and Comparison System for Processed Foods in School Meals

[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] The Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education's School Health Promotion Institute announced on the 22nd that it will launch a service allowing nutritionists and nutrition teachers to compare and check prices of processed foods for school meals.

The School Meal Processed Food Price Information System enables users to check specifications and prices of processed foods online and also compare and analyze similar products.

School nutritionists and nutrition teachers previously gathered information and planned menus using catalogs and leaflets provided by companies, but with the price information system, they will be able to find information more easily.

When companies register product information in the system, nutritionists and nutrition teachers no longer need to meet company representatives face-to-face, and the system can reflect frequently changing price information.

The School Health Promotion Institute requested cooperation from about 80 manufacturers of processed foods supplied to school meals in the 2021 academic year, secured information from 30 companies, and completed price information input. They plan to expand the number of registered companies in the future.
