[Asia Economy Reporter Baek Kyunghwan] On the 22nd, President Yoon Seok-yeol will visit the Korea Air and Space Operations Center (KAOC) at Osan Air Force Base with U.S. President Joe Biden. This event is the final schedule of President Biden's visit to Korea and aims to deliver a message of strengthening the South Korea-U.S. alliance.

According to the Presidential Office on the 22nd, Presidents Yoon and Biden will visit the Air and Space Operations Center in the afternoon to encourage the troops conducting combined South Korea-U.S. operations.

In particular, there is a high possibility that remarks emphasizing readiness against North Korea's nuclear and missile threats will be made at this event. The two leaders confirmed the principles of South Korea-U.S. defense and practical extended deterrence the day before as well.

The KAOC, located in the underground bunker of Osan Air Force Base in Pyeongtaek, serves as the "strategic command" that directs and controls air and space operations on the Korean Peninsula. It is known that in actual wartime, the air force commanders of both South Korea and the U.S. check operational situations and airspace information here to command and control air operations.

Before visiting the Air and Space Operations Center, President Biden will hold a meeting with Chung Eui-sun, Chairman of Hyundai Motor Group. This is a gesture of gratitude following Hyundai Motor's announcement the previous day about establishing an electric vehicle production base in Georgia, USA, including a $6.3 trillion KRW electric vehicle-only factory and battery cell plant.

After completing all schedules, President Biden will depart for Tokyo, Japan, in the afternoon. In Japan, President Biden will attend the Quad summit, a four-nation consultative body consisting of the U.S., Japan, Australia, and India, while President Yoon will participate in the meeting via video conference on the 24th in line with the launch declaration of the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework (IPEF).
