After the Korea-U.S. summit on the same day, President Yoon made the toast at the welcome dinner for President Biden held at the National Museum of Korea, saying, "The two countries confirmed the firmness of the Korea-U.S. alliance at this summit and jointly sought a new future between the two nations."
President Yoon emphasized, "The Korea-U.S. alliance, forged through blood, has been a strong pillar in achieving growth and prosperity based on liberal democracy and market economy," adding, "The Korea-U.S. FTA, which marks its 10th anniversary this year, has created more investment and jobs for both countries."
He continued, "Based on universal values such as liberal democracy, human rights, and the rule of law, the security alliance will evolve beyond into an advanced technology alliance and a global comprehensive strategic alliance," and stated, "I will draw the future vision of the Korea-U.S. alliance together with President Biden."
President Yoon quoted the poet William Butler Yeats, whom President Biden admires, saying, "Yeats said, 'Think where man's glory most begins and ends, and say my glory was I had such friends.'"
He added, "The Republic of Korea and the United States are each other's excellent friends," and said, "We will firmly join hands and walk together for the freedom and human rights of global citizens, as well as for peace and prosperity in the international community."
