Former Prime Minister Chung attended a joint campaign rally of Democratic Party candidates held in Bongdong-eup that day and stressed, "There are many virtues a local leader must have, and candidate Yoo Hee-tae has all the qualities of a leader with both morality and capability."
He continued, "Having been in politics for a long time, I have many connections in the central government," and promised, "If candidate Yoo is elected, I will mobilize all my connections to help make Wanju prosperous and a happy future city."
Former Prime Minister Chung also requested that Wanju residents consolidate their support at this difficult time for the Democratic Party.
At the support rally, former preliminary candidate Lee Don-seung, who was a competitor in the Democratic Party primary, unexpectedly joined to strengthen support for candidate Yoo Hee-tae.
Former candidate Lee declared, "Candidate Yoo is a prepared candidate who possesses morality and capability that independent candidates do not have," and pledged, "With a spirit of putting the party before oneself, I will devote all my efforts to the victory of the Democratic Party and candidate Yoo."
In response, candidate Yoo Hee-tae expressed, "Putting the party before oneself, morality, and capability are the virtues a leader needs in Wanju now," and said, "I thank the two gentlemen who stood with me, and I will repay the support and encouragement of the residents and these individuals with a victory in the local elections."
