Seoul City Calls for Welfare Award Nominations... Seeking Key Contributors to Sharing Culture
Three Categories: Welfare Volunteers, Sponsors, Workers... 10 Winners Including One Grand Prize Recipient Selected
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced on the 23rd that it will publicly recruit candidates for the ‘Seoul Welfare Award’ until June 22.
Marking its 20th year, the Seoul Welfare Award selects a total of 10 winners (teams) divided into three categories: welfare volunteers, sponsors, and workers. One grand prize winner, three excellence award winners (one from each category), and six merit award winners (two from each category) will be chosen. Last year, voice actor Kim Si-jung (stage name Kim Eun-young), who dedicated 35 years to donating her voice for the visually impaired and participated in producing alternative books, was honored with the grand prize.
The winners are selected through an investigation and verification of the recommended candidates’ public merits and a final review by a public merit evaluation committee composed of external experts. The selected individuals and organizations will receive plaques at an awards ceremony scheduled for September.
Candidates must be recommended by administrative agencies, for-profit corporations in the welfare sector, or organizations registered with administrative agencies and social welfare facilities. If an individual makes a recommendation, they must submit a recommendation letter signed by at least 10 Seoul citizens aged 19 or older, along with the required documents, to the Seoul Welfare Policy Division or the welfare department of the relevant autonomous district office.
The candidate recommendation forms and guidelines can be found on the Seoul Metropolitan Government website or the Seoul Welfare Portal under the ‘20th Seoul Welfare Award Recommendation Announcement.’ Gu Jong-won, Seoul Welfare Planning Officer, said, “Thanks to the citizens who devoted themselves to maintaining warmth and closeness of heart despite the long period of social distancing, Seoul has regained its vitality. We ask for your interest and recommendations so that individuals and organizations leading the creation of a warm welfare community through sharing and volunteering can serve as role models for citizens.”
