[Asia Economy Reporter Eunmo Koo] Prices of children's food products, from baby food and toddler meals to processed milk, nut beverages, and eggs, are expected to rise one after another.
According to the industry on the 21st, Lotte Foods will increase the prices of its baby food and toddler meal brand 'Isaenggak' products starting next month on the 1st.
All products under the Isaenggak brand are subject to price increases, with an average increase of over 5% being considered, although the exact rate has not been finalized. This price hike was decided due to rising raw material costs and labor expenses. A Lotte Foods official explained, "We tried to offset cost burdens through management efficiency, but the rise in raw material prices has reached an unbearable level."
Processed milk, nut beverages, and eggs will also see price increases. Maeil Dairies announced on the 19th that it will raise the ex-factory prices of some products, including the 'Easily Digestible Milk' processed milk, the 'Milk Inside' series, and Sangha Farm eggs, starting June 1st. The ex-factory price of the three types of Easily Digestible Milk processed milk will increase by 4.9%, raising the consumer price from 1,000 won to 1,100 won. The ex-factory price of the three types of Milk Inside will increase by 10%, raising the consumer price from 1,500 won to 1,650 won.
The ex-factory price of the five types of almond beverage Almond Breeze will increase from 1,000 won to 1,100 won, resulting in a 10% increase in consumer price, and the consumer price of two types of Sangha Farm juice will rise by 5.1%, from 1,050 won to 1,120 won. The ex-factory price of Sangha Farm eggs will increase by 10.1% to 11%, adjusting the consumer price from 6,100 won to 6,800 won.
A Maeil Dairies official said, "Despite enduring rising raw material costs such as international grain prices for several months, price adjustments for some items like processed milk, almond beverages, and juices have become unavoidable, so we decided to raise prices while minimizing the increase."
