[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Byung-don] The nomination approval bill for Prime Minister candidate Han Duck-soo passed the National Assembly plenary session on the 20th.

On that day, the nomination approval bill for candidate Han was put to a secret ballot, and out of 250 members present, 208 voted in favor, 36 against, and 6 abstained, resulting in its approval.

This comes 47 days after President-elect Yoon Seok-yeol nominated candidate Han on the 3rd of last month, and ten days after President Yoon submitted the nomination approval bill to the National Assembly on his inauguration day.

Thus, candidate Han will assume office as the first prime minister of the Yoon Seok-yeol administration and the 48th prime minister.

Prior to this, the Democratic Party of Korea held a party meeting just before the plenary session and, after discussing the handling of candidate Han's nomination approval bill, decided as a party to support the approval.
