[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyung-min] Lee Jung-soo, Chief Prosecutor of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office (age 53, Judicial Research and Training Institute class 26), said on the 20th as he left Seocho-dong, "To restore public trust, the prosecution must be strict and humble."

At the farewell ceremony held at the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office building in Seocho-gu on the afternoon of the same day, Chief Prosecutor Lee said, "In the ongoing situation of 'Geomsu Wanbak' (complete removal of prosecution's investigative authority), I hope the prosecution becomes one that boldly reveals the truth of the facts, while also listening to grievances and empathizing with pain."

He added, "To achieve this, we must recognize and respect the value of people and understand differences in thought," and urged, "When we communicate and harmonize by putting ourselves in others' shoes, the resonance of our claims grows stronger."

Although he had previously submitted his resignation, it was not accepted, and he was recently appointed as a research fellow at the Judicial Research and Training Institute in the upcoming high-ranking personnel reshuffle of the prosecution.

He reflected, "As I conclude my public service, which I shared with my youth, I sincerely thank everyone," and said, "Thanks to the teachings, consideration, and help of many people over the years, I was able to fulfill my given duties."

He continued, "I accumulated experience and wisdom and learned courage and restraint while sharing joys and sorrows with senior and junior prosecutors, investigators, clerks, administrative officers, and dispatched agency staff," and expressed "respect and gratitude for the roles of the courts, police, and media."

Meanwhile, starting from the 23rd, the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office will be reorganized under the Yoon Seok-yeol faction, led by the new Chief Prosecutor Song Kyung-ho (class 29), along with Deputy Chief Prosecutor Park Young-jin (class 31), Deputy Chief Prosecutor Park Ki-dong (class 30), and Deputy Chief Prosecutor Ko Hyung-gon (class 31).

In this personnel reshuffle, Lee Seong-yoon, Chief Prosecutor of the Seoul High Prosecutors' Office (class 23), who was also appointed as a research fellow at the Judicial Research and Training Institute along with Chief Prosecutor Lee, held a private farewell ceremony attended only by executives at the building on the morning of the same day. It is reported that in his farewell remarks, he expressed gratitude to the staff who helped him a lot and acknowledged their hard work. Chief Prosecutor Lee also submitted his resignation amid the Geomsu Wanbak situation but cannot retire immediately as he is currently undergoing trial.
