[Asia Economy (Namyangju) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Kyungbok University recently opened the 'Media Art Center' equipped with state-of-the-art practical equipment on the 3rd floor of the Changjo Building at the Namyangju Campus.
The Media Art Center consists of a Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) Test Laboratory (Lab) and a Web and Motion Design Laboratory (Lab).
The VR and AR Test Lab is equipped with a chroma key studio, an immersive content production room, a showroom, and a spatially separated experience zone.
It has advanced systems for professional practical training and industry-academia cooperation projects, covering everything from immersive content planning, interaction, motion graphics, 3D modeling, animation, to the Unity engine.
The Web and Motion Design Lab is a media content design practice space where various design projects such as brainstorming and design draft work are carried out using high-spec PCs (HPC), laptops, and pivot monitors for tasks including web design, web publishing, video design, and advertising.
Professor Kim Ju-hee of Kyungbok University's Department of Visual Design stated, "Through the newly established Media Art Center, we expect it to become an innovative practical center that enhances students' practical skills and develops individual capabilities." She emphasized, "Going forward, our department will focus its capabilities to become a specialized educational institution for training top VR, AR, and design experts in the field."
