Village Constellation Project, Connecting Villages for Simultaneous Live Broadcast Performances
[Suncheon=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] The Suncheon Cultural Foundation announced on the 20th that it will hold the first performance of this year's Culture Day event, ‘Cheongchun Mike_Gwangju·Jeonnam,’ for three days starting Wednesday, the 25th, in Suncheon, Goheung, Jangheung, and Sinan.
This year's ‘Cheongchun Mike_Gwangju·Jeonnam’ is organized under the concept of the ‘Village Constellation Project,’ which connects villages with the same name to create a unified village constellation.
On the 25th and 27th, performances will be held simultaneously connecting two villages via live broadcast from Gidong Village in Jangheung County and Sinan County, and on the 28th, from Geumsan Village in Goheung County and Suncheon City.
The Suncheon Cultural Foundation held a launching ceremony on the 13th for 30 youth artist teams participating in this year's Culture Day ‘Cheongchun Mike_Gwangju·Jeonnam’ and officially started the project operation.
From this month until November, on the last Wednesday of each month during the ‘Culture Day Week,’ various performances will be held in diverse villages across the Gwangju·Jeonnam region to comfort and recharge local residents exhausted by COVID-19.
A representative of the Suncheon Cultural Foundation stated, “Youth artists will visit villages throughout Gwangju·Jeonnam where it is difficult to access culture and arts, performing various genres that residents can enjoy together. Beyond simple performances, we plan to combine village stories with performances to communicate more closely with residents and include their stories in Cheongchun Mike.”
Meanwhile, the Culture Day ‘Cheongchun Mike’ project provides youth artists with opportunities to perform and financial support to help them grow, while expanding cultural enjoyment opportunities and accessibility for local residents through small-scale street performances. The Suncheon Cultural Foundation has been selected as the organizing body for the Gwangju·Jeonnam region for two consecutive years.
