[Asia Economy Reporter Myung-hwan Lee] On the morning of the 20th, the KOSPI showed a rise of over 1.5%, quickly climbing to the 2630 level. While institutions, which had engaged in large-scale selling the previous day, turned to net buying, individuals sold stocks worth around 300 billion KRW. The KOSDAQ index is also showing a similar rate of increase.
As of 10:56 AM, the KOSPI stands at 2631.90, up 39.56 points (1.53%) from the previous trading day. The KOSPI opened at 2605.78, up 13.44 points (0.52%), gradually widening its gains. By investor type, individuals alone sold stocks worth 368 billion KRW, while foreigners and institutions bought stocks worth 29.5 billion KRW and 333.2 billion KRW, respectively.
All of the top 10 stocks by market capitalization are rising. LG Chem is trading at 538,000 KRW, up 7.17% (36,000 KRW) from the previous day. Samsung Electronics also returned to the 68,000 KRW level, trading at 68,200 KRW, up 1.04% (700 KRW). Other stocks showing gains include ▲LG Energy Solution (3.25%) ▲SK Hynix (1.35%) ▲Samsung Biologics (1.63%) ▲Samsung Electronics Preferred (1.16%) ▲Naver (1.10%) ▲Samsung SDI (2.54%) ▲Hyundai Motor (2.47%) ▲Kakao (2.86%).
By sector, machinery (2.72%), chemicals (2.71%), and non-metallic minerals (2.13%) are on the rise, while textiles and apparel (-0.14%) are slightly down.
At the same time, the KOSDAQ index is at 875.63, up 11.83 points (1.37%) from the previous day. The KOSDAQ opened at 866.76, up 2.96 points (0.34%), and is rapidly increasing its gains. By investor type, individuals are net sellers of 30.7 billion KRW, while foreigners and institutions are net buyers of 6.8 billion KRW and 27.7 billion KRW, respectively.
Most of the top market capitalization stocks are rising. Celltrion Healthcare is trading at 56,700 KRW, up 4.42% (2,400 KRW) from the previous day. Other rising stocks include ▲EcoPro BM (3.54%) ▲L&F (1.93%) ▲Kakao Games (3.57%) ▲Pearl Abyss (2.78%) ▲Celltrion Pharm (3.79%). HLB is slightly down, falling 0.91% from the previous day.
By sector on the KOSDAQ, metals (2.84%), digital contents (2.65%), and food & tobacco (2.50%) are rising.
