[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunseok Yoo] Asiana Airlines announced on the 20th that it is celebrating the 25th anniversary of the founding of Star Alliance, the world's largest airline alliance.
Star Alliance was established in 1997. It has 26 global member airlines, including Asiana Airlines, Air Canada, Air China, Lufthansa, and United Airlines.
To commemorate its 25th anniversary, Star Alliance unveiled a new slogan: "Together·Better·Connected." The new slogan signifies Star Alliance's intention to expand the scope of relationships between people through its global network and seamless digital connectivity.
Star Alliance plans to launch the industry's first airline alliance credit card that allows member airline customers to earn and use mileage or points in certain regions.
Star Alliance has previously adopted a sustainability statement to practice carbon neutrality and decarbonization. Jeffrey Goh, CEO of Star Alliance, said, "Within this year, we will ensure that the journeys of customers using member airlines proceed smoothly through digital and mobile innovations," adding, "We also plan to offer various services that can satisfy the loyal customers of member airlines."
Meanwhile, Star Alliance has been recognized multiple times by reputable organizations such as the World Travel Awards, Skytrax World Airline Awards, and Air Transport Awards for its positive contributions to the future of the aviation industry, receiving the 'World's Best Airline Alliance' award several times.
