Z Flip4, Battery Capacity Increased by More Than 10% Compared to Previous Model Samsung Galaxy Z Flip3

[Asia Economy Reporter Minyoung Cha] The battery capacity of the new foldable phone series 'Galaxy Z Flip 4,' expected to be unveiled as early as August this year, is estimated to be more than 10% larger than its predecessor.

On the 19th (local time), IT specialty media PhoneArena cited the results of China's 3C certification and reported that the battery capacity of the Z Flip 4 is expected to be 3595mAh, more than 10% larger than the previous model, the 'Galaxy Z Flip 3 (3200mAh).' This exceeds the 3400mAh estimated by SamMobile.

The battery design remains a dual battery like the previous model, divided into two parts installed on the top and bottom respectively. The capacities are expected to be 1040mAh and 2555mAh. With the significant increase in battery capacity, some of the battery-related complaints from Z Flip 3 users can be addressed in the next model.

Summarizing foreign media reports, the appearance of the next model, the Z Flip 4, is expected to be similar to its predecessor, with enhanced internal performance. The application processor (AP), known as the "brain of the smartphone," is reported to be Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Plus. Instead of a chip manufactured directly by Samsung Electronics, the chip will be produced by Taiwan's TSMC.

IT tipster Ice Universe also revealed the AP specification test results for the Z Flip 4 on Twitter. According to the global electronic device performance benchmarking site 'Geekbench,' the performance test scores were 1277 for single-core and 3642 for multi-core. The previous model, the Z Flip 3, scored 1059 for single-core and 3290 for multi-core.

Samsung Electronics plans to introduce the Z series, including the 'Galaxy Z Fold 4,' this summer along with the Z Flip 4. Especially as COVID-19 social distancing restrictions are eased worldwide, smartphone unpacking (new product launch) events are expected to resume offline in the second half of this year. Samsung has traditionally unveiled its flagship smartphones for the second half of the year in early August in New York, USA, but replaced this with online events due to COVID-19.
