As the average fuel price at gas stations nationwide approaches 1,975 KRW per liter and remains high, Shinhan Card's fuel-specialized credit cards are gaining popularity.
According to Shinhan Card on the 20th, the issuance of the Shinhan Card Deep Oil card increased by 32.6% last month compared to December of last year. Launched in 2018, the Deep Oil card is Shinhan Card's representative fuel-specialized card.
The Deep Oil card allows customers to select one petroleum company among GS Caltex, SK Energy, S-Oil, and Hyundai Oilbank, and when using that selected company, they receive a 10% discount on the usage amount. The petroleum company eligible for discounts can be changed once a year, and the card also offers various discount benefits in areas such as vehicles, convenience stores, coffee, taxis, and movies.
The discount benefits of the Deep Oil card are determined by the previous month's usage amount, with monthly usage limits and the number of times the discount service can be provided. For a previous month usage amount between 300,000 KRW and less than 700,000 KRW, the monthly usage limit for fuel, vehicle, and lifestyle services is 150,000 KRW each, and the monthly limit for movie service is one time. For a previous month usage amount of 700,000 KRW or more, the monthly usage limit for fuel, vehicle, and lifestyle services is 300,000 KRW each, and the monthly limit for movie service is two times. The annual fee is 10,000 KRW for the local (S&) card and 13,000 KRW for the international (Master) card.
The Shinhan Card RPM+ Platinum Shop, which accumulates up to 150 points per liter based on the previous month's performance at all gas stations nationwide, also contributes to the popularity of fuel cards. The RPM+ Platinum Shop card accumulates up to 150 points per liter for gasoline and up to 50 points per liter for liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) at all gas stations and charging stations nationwide, depending on the previous month's credit sales performance.
Additionally, the card strengthens accumulation benefits at daily life affiliated stores, allowing up to 5% accumulation at convenience stores, taxis, online shopping malls, large discount stores, and department stores. At all general affiliated stores nationwide, excluding gas stations, charging stations, and special affiliated stores, points are accumulated from 0.2% up to 2% based on the previous month's credit sales usage. When used at about 40,000 My Shinhan Points affiliated stores nationwide, additional points provided by the affiliated stores are also accumulated. The annual fee for this card is 35,000 KRW for Visa and 32,000 KRW for UPI.
