Korea Racing Authority Announces New Future Vision on 100th Anniversary of Korean Horse Racing Official Emblem Commemorating 100 Years of Horse Racing in Korea.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Dongguk Lee] The Korea Racing Authority held a ceremony commemorating 100 years of Korean horse racing on May 19 at Seoul Race Park, attended by many distinguished guests, sharing the achievements of Korean horse racing so far and proclaiming a new vision for the next 100 years to come.

Korean horse racing began in 1922 with the establishment of the incorporated association Joseon Racing Club and was first held on May 20 at the Dongdaemun Training Ground in Seoul. This year marks the 100th anniversary of its implementation.

Starting from a barren land, Korean horse racing has made remarkable progress as a popular sport over the past 100 years, rising to become the 7th largest horse racing country in the world by sales revenue.

By establishing horse racing facilities at the level of advanced countries, it has provided leisure spaces for the public and laid the foundation for hosting the Asian Racing Conference (ARC) and the successful equestrian events at the Asian Games and the Olympics.

The Korea Racing Authority has designated this year, the 100th year of horse racing implementation, as a turning point for institutional leap forward to rebuild domestic horse racing and the horse industry and fulfill social responsibilities, expressing its determination to overcome crises and innovate for the future through a new vision both internally and externally.

The new vision was announced jointly by Chairman Jeong Ki-hwan of the Korea Racing Authority and new employee Su-a Lee, co-chair of the Korean Horse Racing 100th Anniversary Project Committee. This was intended to signify the commitment of both the older generation and the MZ generation to realize the 100-year vision together.

Additionally, based on opinions from external committees, horse racing-related organizations, and Korea Racing Authority executives and employees, the slogan to realize the vision was finalized as “100 Years with Horses, Korea Racing Authority Running Again.” This expresses the will of all horse racing members to establish the institution’s unique identity through sharing the achievements of 100 years of horse racing history and to use it as a focal point for a new leap forward.

Kim Chun-soon, Chairman of the Gambling Industry Supervisory Commission, who read the congratulatory message that day, said, “I express my gratitude to all horse racing stakeholders for the brilliant achievements Korean horse racing has made so far,” and added, “We will spare no effort to support the healthy and sustainable development of Korean horse racing in the future.”
