Seize the Opportunity for Archaeological Field Training

Cultural Heritage Research Institute, Field Training Course at Excavation Sites
Conducted at Buyeo Royal Tombs and Chungju Nuaam-ri Burial Mounds

Seize the Opportunity for Archaeological Field Training

The National Research Institute of Cultural Heritage and the Korean Archaeological Society announced on the 19th that they have established a field training course at the 'Summer Excavation Camp.' Participants will be recruited until the 31st. This program aims to cultivate future archaeology professionals. It was prepared considering the lack of opportunities for archaeological field training in university curricula. Practical theoretical education and survey experience opportunities are provided at important excavation sites by region. A Cultural Heritage Administration official explained, "The teaching staff consists of academic experts and researchers from the Cultural Heritage Research Institute," adding, "Field training will be conducted at ten sites including the 44th stone coffin tomb in the Joksam district of Gyeongju, the royal tomb complex in Buyeo, the Bonghwang-dong site in Gimhae, the Nuaam-ri burial mound cluster in Chungju, the Pungnap Earthen Fortress in Seoul, and the Yukgye Earthen Fortress in Paju." The schedule runs for about three weeks from June 21 to July 8. A fixed field training allowance will be provided. For detailed information on participation methods, please refer to the Korean Archaeological Society website.
