[Asia Economy Reporter No Woo-rae] ○…‘Hulk’ Bryson DeChambeau (USA) will not participate in the season's second major, the PGA Championship.

On the 19th (Korean time), the American Golf Channel reported, "After completing a 9-hole practice round at Southern Hills Golf Club (par 70, 7,365 yards), the course for the PGA Championship, DeChambeau decided not to compete." DeChambeau, who won the 2020 US Open, underwent surgery in mid-April to treat a microfracture in his left wrist bone. At that time, rehabilitation was expected to take about two months, making it difficult for him to participate in the PGA Championship.

DeChambeau arrived at the tournament venue and even completed a practice round to prepare for the PGA Championship, but ultimately concluded that competing in the event would be difficult. In an interview with Golf Channel, DeChambeau expressed regret, saying, "I want to come back at 100%, not 70%, when I return," calling it a "disappointing result." He is expected to compete in the PGA Tour Memorial Tournament in early June and the US Open starting on June 16.
