Selecting 50 Participants to Offer Experience Programs by Group Companies

[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Chaeseok] POSCO 1% Sharing Foundation announced on the 19th that it is recruiting the 4th cohort of 'Do Dream,' a program that supports young adults who turn 18 and leave child care facilities to become independent. Selected participants will be provided with opportunities to participate in employment and entrepreneurship capacity-building programs, as well as independence support funds covering education, living, and medical expenses.
Applications for the 4th cohort of Do Dream can be submitted on the foundation's website by the 31st of this month. Eligibility includes young adults born between 1994 and 2004 who are under the protection of child welfare facilities nationwide (including foster care and shelters) or are currently becoming independent. The foundation plans to select a final 50 candidates through interviews with those who pass the document screening. A foundation official stated, "We plan to offer experiential programs that reflect the characteristics of each company's industry and opportunities to participate in club activities that can be used as portfolios when seeking employment or starting a business."

Since 2018, the foundation has been running the Do Dream project, supporting the employment and entrepreneurship capabilities of 139 young adults. Since last year, not only POSCO but also POSCO International, POSCO Engineering & Construction, and POSCO ICT have participated in the Do Dream project. They provide customized mentoring by employees for young adults aspiring to work in overseas trade, construction, and information technology (IT) sectors.
Additionally, since 2013, the foundation has been conducting social contribution activities funded by donations from employees and matching grants from the company. Under the vision of "1% Sharing for a Better World," it focuses on activities in future generations, multiculturalism, people with disabilities, and cultural arts.
