Lee Jae-myung Supports Approval of Han Duck-soo's Appointment Bill: "The President Is Just Starting Out..."

[Asia Economy Reporter Naju-seok] Lee Jae-myung, the General Election Committee Chairman of the Democratic Party of Korea, supported the approval of the nomination consent bill for Prime Minister candidate Han Duck-soo on the 19th. Although he expressed respect for the judgment within the National Assembly, he also emphasized the need to consider the situation of the new government’s inauguration.

On the same day, appearing on CBS Radio’s ‘Kim Hyun-jung’s News Show,’ Chairman Lee said, "The personnel hearing results for the Prime Minister are within the authority of the National Assembly, so I believe they will make a proper decision. From the public’s perspective, he is unqualified," but added, "Nevertheless, the president was chosen by the people, and this is the president’s first start. We are not in the position to appoint but to consent, and (President Yoon Seok-yeol) is at the stage of preparing a new team after his first start."

He continued, "Within the party, I have been thinking about why they pushed through Minister Han Dong-hoon’s appointment yesterday, which could affect the approval of the Prime Minister," he said. When the host asked if he thought it was a deliberate provocation, Chairman Lee replied, "It’s hard to say that," but added, "That aspect also needs to be considered."

Although he did not mention it directly, this is interpreted as a warning against the government and ruling party’s obstruction frame.

Meanwhile, Chairman Lee also expressed discomfort toward Lee Jun-seok, the leader of the People Power Party. Regarding Lee’s comment that "According to the investigation report, it seems the judgment against candidate Lee Jae-myung is working in Gyeyang-eul. Local worker candidate Yoon Hyung-sun can win," Chairman Lee called it "nonsense" and said, "Lee often says unreasonable things."
