[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Jonghwa] KCC is promoting the regional regeneration project "Dreaming Forest" together with Paju City and the Paju Youth Foundation, supporting vibrant communities and sharing the dreams of youth.
On the 18th, KCC held a business agreement ceremony for "Dreaming Forest" at Paju Youth Free Space Shwimpy 2nd Branch, pledging 100 million KRW to improve the village environment and create a youth cultural and artistic space. Key figures from participating organizations, including Kim Sangjun, KCC Director, and Park Jungyu, CEO of the Paju Youth Foundation, attended the ceremony.
The "Dreaming Forest" project is a regional regeneration social contribution initiative that improves the environment of aging villages through mural painting activities and remodels idle spaces to create spaces for youth cultural, artistic, and entrepreneurial activities. This is a new project starting this year, beginning in Paju City and gradually expanding to areas near KCC business sites nationwide.
This time, environmental improvement activities will be carried out targeting Hanwoo Village located in Jeokseong-myeon, Paju City. The "Dreaming Forest" mural team, composed of about 40 people including mural artists, local youth, residents, and public officials, will use KCC's eco-friendly paint "Sopro" to paint murals on village walls. Starting with mural work at Jeokseo Elementary School near the village, KCC employees' volunteer activities will also be linked to create a vibrant village through public-private cooperation. After the mural village is established, the village festival will be further enriched with youth busking performances, eco-friendly experience booths, and various events.
Additionally, a youth startup cultural and artistic space will be created in Heyri Village, Paju City. An idle space in the district will be remodeled using KCC's eco-friendly premium building materials to transform it into a dream space where youth can engage in cultural, artistic, and entrepreneurial activities. The created space will be used as a handmade product workshop, cultural rest area, venue for lectures and performances, and a place for cultural and artistic programs and expert classes, generating value for the local economy and youth creative activities.
A KCC official stated, "Improving the village environment and regenerating idle spaces to invigorate local youth and residents is the beginning of coexistence and virtuous cycles," adding, "Through the Dreaming Forest project, KCC will create shared value between the region and the company and establish a virtuous cycle structure, practicing ESG management and dreaming together with community residents living in the present and youth leading the future."
