[Asia Economy Reporter Intern Lee Gyehwa] A man in his 40s wielding a long sword was arrested by the police in the heart of downtown Suwon, Gyeonggi Province.
The Suwon Southern Police Station announced on the 19th that they have arrested and are investigating A (49) on charges including obstruction of official duties.
A is accused of shouting loudly and swinging a 92 cm long sword once on a roadside in Ingye-dong, Paldal-gu, Suwon City at around 8:35 PM the previous day. At the time, A was intoxicated, and no one was injured during the disturbance.
Police who responded to the report aimed a taser gun and persuaded A to put down the sword before arresting him at the scene.
The police plan to formally charge A after investigating the exact circumstances of how he obtained the sword once he sobers up.
