Withdrawal of Reinstatement Application Too
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Yang Hyangja, a member of the National Assembly (Gwangju Seo-gu Eul), called for the withdrawal of Lee Jae-myung, the Democratic Party of Korea candidate for Gyeyang-eul, and Song Young-gil, the Seoul mayoral candidate, while stating that she will not apply for rejoining the Democratic Party.
On the 18th, Yang posted on her SNS a message titled "I withdraw my rejoining application," saying, "The Democratic Party I joined is not the current Democratic Party," and added, "Although the suspicions that made me leave the party have been legally clarified, there is no party for me to return to now."
She continued, "Six years ago, the Democratic Party I entered holding former President Moon Jae-in’s hand was democratic and innovative," but criticized, "Now it is like an army moving in strict unison without democracy or innovation."
She also criticized, "I am applauding the strange situation where Song Young-gil, the party leader who lost the presidential election and the eldest of the '586 generation' who called for the '586 generation’s retirement,' runs for Seoul mayor just 20 days after resigning, and Lee Jae-myung, the defeated presidential candidate, takes charge as the head of the local election campaign," adding, "To prevent a complete defeat in the local elections, both Song Young-gil and Lee Jae-myung should resign immediately."
Furthermore, she emphasized, "The Democratic Party is a weak team that lost the presidential election and does not have a larger or stronger support base than its opponents," and said, "From the public’s perspective, it is not more righteous than the People Power Party, but the Democratic Party thinks of itself as a 'strong team with sufficient support and the only one that is right.'"
She added, "It was like this during the presidential election, and since there is still no reflection, the possibility of losing the local elections is very high," and said, "The emergence of groups like 'Gaeddal' is welcome and appreciated, but the Democratic Party’s current cheering for Gaeddal looks like YouTubers dancing to super chats."
Along with this, she argued, "The Democratic Party does not reach out to struggling citizens but always asks the people for strength," and said, "Instead of receiving support with a bold attitude, it is begging bold citizens for support. This ultimately leads to being consumed."
She continued, "Many citizens, including myself, have worked for the Democratic Party’s victory and still hope for it," but stressed, "The current Democratic Party regards those who worry about the party as enemies. It must become the people’s Democratic Party again, not the Democratic Party of Song Young-gil and Lee Jae-myung or the Democratic Party of the Cheorheohui."
She added, "I hope they reflect on whether they have become monsters themselves while fighting monsters."
