Recognition of AIFB Certification as a Professional Qualification in the AI Field Among the Five Graduation Requirement Areas
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Hye-seon] The corporate artificial intelligence (AI) practical certification 'AIFB (AI Fundamentals for Business)' will be introduced as one of the graduation requirements for Sungkyunkwan University students starting this year. 'AIFB' is developed and operated by KT to cultivate practical AI talent.
Sungkyunkwan University is implementing the New 3-Poom Certification System as a common graduation requirement. This system consists of five areas: character, global, creativity, AI, and internship. Graduating students must fulfill the requirements by completing school-recognized activities or obtaining professional certifications in a total of three areas, including the character area.
Through this collaboration with KT, Sungkyunkwan University has decided to recognize students who obtain the AIFB certification as having met the AI area graduation requirement within the New 3-Poom Certification System. KT will provide the AIFB exam opportunity along with a preparatory education course (AIFB Ready) during the summer break challenge semester.
AIFB is structured into three tracks considering that the level of AI utilization skills required varies depending on corporate job roles. Sungkyunkwan University students can use this summer break to take the preparatory course for the Associate track, the most general intermediate track among the three, and then voluntarily take the certification exam.
KT has registered the corporate AI practical certification 'AIFB', jointly developed with Korea's leading industry-academia-research consortium AI One Team to expand the AI base in Korea, as a private qualification. Along with the related education program AIFB Ready, it has been operated for use in universities and companies.
Additionally, 32 companies including BC Card, K Bank, kt ds within the KT Group, and AI One Team participating companies such as Hyundai Heavy Industries Group, Dongwon Group, Korea Investment & Securities, and Shinhan Bank have introduced AIFB as an in-house training program or give preference to AIFB holders during recruitment. KT's youth AI talent training program, Able School, also gives preference to AIFB holders during trainee selection. KT plans to further expand the use of AIFB for employee skill enhancement and talent acquisition in more companies and institutions.
Meanwhile, the 2nd regular AIFB exam, which has been open to the public since March this year, is scheduled to be held on July 16.
