Daejeon City Supports Job-Seeking Activity Expenses for Middle-Aged and Older Unemployed

[Asia Economy (Daejeon) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] Daejeon City will support job-seeking expenses for unemployed middle-aged and older adults in the region.

The city announced on the 19th that it will recruit unemployed middle-aged and older adults in the region to participate in the ‘Middle-aged and Older Adult Reemployment Support Project’ from the 23rd of this month to the 23rd of next month.

The project will provide up to 1.5 million KRW over three months under the names of education expenses, certification acquisition fees, and book purchase costs to unemployed middle-aged and older adults who have been in a support blind spot.

Eligible applicants are unemployed individuals aged 40 to 64 as of the application date (who have not received unemployment benefits), who have been registered residents in Daejeon for more than six months, and whose household income is below 150% of the median income.

The city plans to select 1,000 recipients on a first-come, first-served basis. Applications can be made through the Daejeon Middle-aged and Older Adult Reemployment Support Project website.

If online application is difficult, applicants can visit the Daejeon Job and Economic Promotion Agency or one of six Hana Bank branches (Daedeok Techno Valley Branch, Daejeon City Hall Branch, Daejeon Branch, Yuseong Financial Center Branch, Ojeong-dong Branch, Daedong Branch) to apply in person.

For more detailed information about the project, please refer to the announcement posted on the Daejeon Biz or Middle-aged and Older Adult Support Center websites, or contact the City’s Job and Labor Economy Division or the Daejeon Job and Economic Promotion Agency’s Middle-aged and Older Adult Support Center.

Im Muk, Director of the City’s Job and Economic Bureau, said, “We will strengthen the project so that middle-aged and older job seekers struggling due to COVID-19 can find quality jobs, reemploy, and improve their quality of life.”
