[Asia Economy Reporter Park Sun-mi] Park Byung-guk, an outside director of Samsung Electronics (professor at Seoul National University), has passed away at the age of 63.

On the 18th, Samsung Electronics announced that Director Park passed away the day before. The funeral hall is at Seoul St. Mary's Hospital in Seocho-gu, Seoul. The funeral procession will be held at 5:20 AM on the 20th.

He had served as an outside director of Samsung Electronics since 2018. He was recognized as a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), the highest honor of the organization, and was regarded as a top expert in the field of semiconductor devices. He also served as the president of the Korean Institute of Electrical Engineers.
