Science and Technology Award Presented to Two Chemists and Materials Scientists... Prize Money of 100 Million Won

[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Chaeseok] The Korea Toray Science Promotion Foundation announced on the 18th that it is accepting applications for the 5th Science and Technology Award and Research Fund until the end of next month.

The Science and Technology Award is given to two scientists who have made outstanding research achievements and contributed to technological advancement in the basic and applied fields of chemistry and materials. Awardees will also receive a prize of 100 million KRW. In addition, four teams of young scientists in the same fields who propose highly creative research projects will be selected to receive research funds of up to 50 million KRW each for three years. Anyone affiliated with domestic universities, academic societies, or research institutions can apply for the Science and Technology Award and Research Fund. Applications can be submitted through the foundation's website. The award ceremony is scheduled to be held in October.

Since its establishment as a public interest corporation, the foundation has awarded the Science and Technology Award to eight individuals and supported research funds for 16 teams, the company said. It also sponsors scholarships for about 120 science and engineering university students.
