[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heeyoon] Actor Kang Seok-woo (65), known as a classical music enthusiast, will perform original art songs that he personally wrote and composed on stage.

The National Jeongdong Theater announced on the 18th that it will hold the concert "Art Songs Singing Poetry with Kang Seok-woo" on the 9th and 10th of next month.

Kang Seok-woo, renowned for his exceptional love of classical music, hosted the CBS Radio Music FM program "Kang Seok-woo's Beautiful You," which ranked number one in the same time slot's listenership from 2015 until early this year, introducing various music to the public.

He especially showed his special affection for art songs by creating the "10 o'clock Art Song" segment. Since 2016, he has committed to gifting listeners with original art songs, writing lyrics and composing one song each year.

At this concert, Kang Seok-woo plans to reveal the art songs he has created annually since 2016. In addition to songs previously released on his personal YouTube channel such as "Forest in April" and "My Heart is a Waltz," the piece "In the Garden of Time" will premiere. Besides his original art songs, well-known classic pieces like "I Will Live in the Green Mountains" and "Magnolia" will also be performed on stage.

Kang Seok-woo, known to visit concert halls on average once or twice a week, has focused on broadcasting and classical music to the extent that he reduced his creative activities after starting to host morning radio shows. This was mainly because attending classical performances, which usually take place in the evening, conflicted with his next morning's broadcast schedule.

Ahead of this performance, Kang Seok-woo said, "Art songs sing various emotions and fully embody our sentiments. While the lyrics are beautiful, following the melody naturally brings back old memories. I want to purely convey the beauty of that music."

He kept his promise to listeners to complete seven art songs at the premiere of "In the Garden of Time." The concert, hosted by Kang Seok-woo himself, will feature soprano Kang Hye-jung, Kim Soon-young, and baritones Song Ki-chang and Lee Eung-kwang.

Debuting in the 1979 film "Yeosu," Kang Seok-woo has showcased diverse acting activities across broadcasting and film. Having worked as a radio DJ for a long time, including on MBC Standard FM's "Women's Era," he stepped down from "Kang Seok-woo's Beautiful You," which he hosted for six years, in January due to side effects from the COVID-19 vaccine. He is currently filming the Netflix drama "The Fool at the End."
