Focused Efforts on Trash Collection and Weed Removal at Pyeonghwa Square and Mokpo Station
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Jeong Seunghyun] Mokpo City, Jeollanam-do, is working hard to create a clean tourist city.
According to the city on the 16th, with the full-scale tourist visit period underway, April and May have been designated as the "Focused Cleanliness Activity Period" to create a pleasant urban environment, and cleanliness activities are being promoted throughout the city.
To this end, on April 29 and May 13, about 100 people including public officials, self-governing organizations, and social groups participated in large-scale cleanliness activities centered on major tourist spots and multi-use facilities such as Bukhang, Yudalsan, Samhakdo, Peace Square, Mokpo Station, and Well-being Park, collecting trash, removing weeds, and cleaning up illegal advertisements.
Each neighborhood is also maintaining vacant lots by turning them into flower gardens, while continuously carrying out trash collection along major arterial roads, weed removal, and disposal of unauthorized items in front of houses and shops.
A city official stated, "For making Mokpo a city people want to visit again, kindness, order, and cleanliness are most important," adding, "We will continue to focus on managing major tourist sites and vulnerable areas to create a pleasant and clean city without any blind spots in cleanliness."
