[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunju Lee] Lee Jun-seok, leader of the People Power Party, visited Jeju on the 16th to appeal for support.

At the Jeju Provincial Party Election Countermeasures Committee on the same day, Lee said, "It is a situation where a landslide victory is more necessary than ever in the local elections," and to counter the Democratic Party of Korea, "We must fill the lacking half of the Yoon Seok-yeol government."

He said, "President Yoon Seok-yeol came to Jeju three days before the election," adding, "His health was in a very poor condition. We told him not to overexert himself even if he needed to rest, but please remember the president who rushed here at once and kept his promise."

He continued, "As the president-elect, he took a private plane and came straight to Jeju to keep his promise not to forget the April 3rd incident during his candidacy," emphasizing, "No conservative president has ever treated Jeju with such sincerity."

The People Power Party nominated Heo Hyang-jin as the candidate for Jeju governor and Boo Sang-il for the Jeju-si Eul by-election for the National Assembly. Lee said, "I hope all party members unite in harmony so that all the candidates for the provincial council will achieve good results and work together to develop Jeju alongside the Yoon Seok-yeol government."
