[Asia Economy Reporter Chunhee Lee] The National Cancer Center held an opening ceremony on the 16th for the expanded operation of the integrated nursing care service ward. With this, out of the 525 general beds at the National Cancer Center, 344 beds are now equipped with integrated nursing care services.

On this day, the National Cancer Center held the opening ceremony for the integrated nursing care service ward with the attendance of related personnel including the hospital director and deputy director of medical services. The National Cancer Center fully equipped 45 integrated nursing care service beds in Ward 61 (colorectal cancer) of the main hospital building and 41 beds in Ward 5A (hematologic cancer) of the new building, adding a total of 86 integrated nursing care service beds this year.

The integrated nursing care service is a service where dedicated nursing staff provide professional integrated nursing care to patients 24 hours a day without the need for guardians or caregivers. The National Cancer Center has been gradually expanding integrated nursing care service wards since 2016. Including the 86 beds added this year, the total number of beds providing integrated services reaches 344.

Seo Hong-gwan, director of the National Cancer Center, said, “With this expansion of integrated nursing care service beds, the National Cancer Center now has integrated nursing care service beds accounting for two-thirds of the general beds. We have created an environment where high-quality integrated nursing care services can be smoothly provided to cancer patients, and we will strive to become a cancer-specialized hospital without worries about nursing and caregiving.”
