Fanentertainment to Produce Drama Adaptation of Popular Webtoon 'Gauseu Jeonja'

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyungsoo] Fan Entertainment has confirmed the scheduling of the drama Gauseu Jeonja and has begun full-scale production. The company is forming a webtoon-drama content value chain and building a differentiated business utilizing IP (intellectual property).

Fan Entertainment announced on the 16th that it has confirmed the production of the drama Gauseu Jeonja and will simultaneously release it this second half of the year through Olleh TV and the online video service (OTT) "Seezn."

Gauseu Jeonja will star actors Kwak Dong-yeon, Go Seong-hee, Bae Hyun-sung, and Kang Min-ah. PD Seo Soo-min, who led shows such as Gag Concert, Producer, and The Sound of Your Heart, driving a new genre to box office success, will serve as the general creator. PD Park Joon-soo, known for pioneering trends with witty fake documentary variety shows like God of Music and UV Syndrome, will direct, completing a noteworthy lineup.

The Naver Webtoon Gauseu Jeonja is a representative office comedy webtoon that has recorded a cumulative 2.6 billion views and is recognized for both its popularity and artistic quality. Thanks to the solid fandom and global recognition of the original work, the news of its adaptation into a drama has attracted significant attention.

Alongside the drama production, the scheduling on Olleh TV, which has the largest IPTV subscriber base in Korea, and KT's OTT platform Seezn has been confirmed, expanding content distribution channels and expecting a synergy effect that will enhance profitability.

Fan Entertainment is expected to establish a successful reference for "one source multi-use" by purchasing the drama adaptation IP of popular webtoons like Gauseu Jeonja and planning and developing new content. The company is working on drama planning, development, and casting for various webtoons and novels such as Gukmin Sahyeong Topyo, Kkot Seonbi Yeol-aesa, and Jjeolhaejuseyo. The business structure combining famous IPs and a stable production system is anticipated to be a future competitive advantage that continuously produces a second wave of super IPs.
