A man in his 60s follows a flight attendant he first saw at the airport to her home and demands a meeting... Suspended sentence given In May of last year, a man in his 60s who was charged with following an airline crew member home after a flight was sentenced to one year in prison with a two-year probation.

[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Joo-eun Lee] A man in his 60s who was prosecuted for following an airline flight attendant he first met at the airport all the way to her home was sentenced to a suspended prison term.

On the 15th, Judge Lee Ji-hee of the Changwon District Court Criminal Division 7 announced that A (63), who was tried for violating the Minor Offenses Act and trespassing, was sentenced to one year in prison with a two-year suspension and fined 50,000 won. Probation and a psychiatric treatment order were also imposed.

A (63) first saw flight attendant B (30) around 8 a.m. on May 10 last year at the Airport Railroad Station of Terminal 2 at Incheon International Airport, and followed B all the way to her residence in Gangseo-gu, Seoul, after her flight.

A followed the elevator that B took and repeatedly frightened the victim with remarks demanding meetings such as "Let's go into the house together" and "Let's go to a motel."

During the trial, A denied the charges, claiming that he only suggested going for coffee and did not intend to create anxiety or commit a crime by entering the apartment.

The court did not accept his claim, considering the specific testimony of the victim, the credible testimony of the victim’s younger sibling, and the difficulty in finding any other motive or purpose for visiting the apartment where B resides.

The court explained the sentencing reason, stating that although A’s crime was very serious as he followed the victim returning home at night and caused anxiety, the sentence was determined in consideration of factors such as “the defendant having been diagnosed with a level 3 mental disorder and receiving treatment.”
