[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heeyoon] The Korea Tourism Organization announced on the 16th that it will conduct diplomatic marketing in Saudi Arabia, a major inbound market in the Middle East, to expand the inbound market.
To commemorate the 60th anniversary of Korea-Saudi diplomatic relations, the organization will hold a "Korea Tourism Promotion Roadshow" on the 15th (local time) in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, followed by Jeddah, the commercial city of Saudi Arabia, on the 16th.
The roadshow is held under the theme "Travel to Korea Begins Again!" It is the first large-scale B2B marketing event held in the Middle East since COVID-19. A total of about 200 related personnel, including local travel agents and journalists, will visit the venue to discuss the development of new Korean travel products and the planning of large-scale customer attraction campaigns in preparation for the resumption of inbound tourism. Domestically, Jeollanam-do, the Jeollanam-do Tourism Foundation, and seven travel industry organizations are participating.

In addition, various promotions utilizing the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations will be conducted. In particular, at the Riyadh event on the 15th, the organization signed a business agreement with Air Saudi, the largest state-owned airline in Saudi Arabia, to activate direct flights between Korea and Saudi Arabia and to expand tourism exchanges between the two countries. Both organizations will cooperate to operate the Riyadh-Incheon direct flight route this year.
Furthermore, on the same day, the organization signed a multilateral business agreement with eight major outbound travel agencies in Saudi Arabia, including AlMuayed Travel, to revitalize the attraction of Saudi inbound tourists. As part of the cooperative projects, fam tours for the industry will also be promoted. Various diplomatic marketing activities will be carried out, including sales calls to major Saudi cities and participation in the Riyadh International Tourism Exhibition.
Hong Hyunseon, head of the Korea Tourism Organization Dubai office, said, "Saudi Arabia is the largest inbound market in the Middle East, and the popularity of Hallyu is increasing, making it a highly potential market. We plan to actively promote various marketing activities to increase the attraction of Saudi inbound tourists through collaboration with local industries."
