[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gwangjin-gu opened the Flood and Wind Disaster Safety Countermeasures Headquarters on the first floor of the Safety Management Building at the district office on the 13th to prepare for flood and wind disasters during the summer season.


The Flood and Wind Disaster Safety Countermeasures Headquarters operates 24 hours a day from May 15 to October 15. It is composed of 63 members across 13 practical teams, including the Situation Management General Team, Traffic Countermeasures Team, and Social Order Maintenance Team, with the district mayor serving as the head of the headquarters.


At the opening ceremony, Acting Mayor Eom Ui-sik of Gwangjin-gu, heads of departments and offices, and leaders of the local autonomous disaster prevention groups attended. The event began with a plaque unveiling ceremony, followed by a report on the 2022 flood and wind disaster countermeasures and viewing of a promotional video.


Gwangjin-gu operates five rainwater pumping stations that discharge rainwater inflow during heavy rains and rainwater storage tanks at Achasan and Guuimun capable of storing over 3,000 tons of rainwater. To ensure rapid response, an automated system is in place to monitor the operation and opening/closing status of pumps and sluice gates between pumping stations via video.


In addition, the district operates the ‘Gwangjin-gu Flood and Wind Disaster Call Center’ to manage complaints related to flood and wind disasters in an integrated manner. The call center was established to promptly and systematically handle flood and wind disaster damages and to improve residents’ satisfaction with civil administrative services.


Services provided include ▲damage report reception and transmission to relevant departments ▲guidance on flood and wind disaster insurance enrollment ▲information on disaster relief fund payments ▲and guidance on shelters for disaster victims.

Yangcheon-gu (Acting Mayor Kim Jeong-ho) held the opening ceremony of the 2022 Summer Flood and Wind Disaster Safety Countermeasures Headquarters at the Disaster Safety Countermeasures Situation Room of the district office at 3 p.m. on the 13th.


Yangcheon-gu will enter a 24-hour emergency duty system for five months from May 15 to October 15, implementing prepared plans for prevention, response, and recovery from summer typhoons and heavy rains.

Geumcheon-gu held the opening ceremony of the Flood and Wind Disaster Safety Countermeasures Headquarters at 11 a.m. on the 13th.


The Flood and Wind Disaster Safety Countermeasures Headquarters will operate from May 15 to October 15. It has established a close cooperation system with related organizations such as fire stations and military units and maintains a four-level emergency duty system?‘Normal,’ ‘Caution,’ ‘Alert,’ and ‘Severe’?according to rainfall levels to promptly respond to flood and wind disasters.


Kim Young-seong, Acting Mayor of Geumcheon-gu, said, “We will do our best to respond quickly and accurately to natural disasters such as heavy rains and typhoons during the summer season to protect the lives and property of residents.”
