[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Kim Se-eun] The ruling and opposition parties are putting all their efforts into the election campaign ahead of the June 1 local elections.
On the 14th, Kwon Seong-dong, floor leader of the People Power Party, who attended the opening ceremony of Seoul Mayor candidate Oh Se-hoon's campaign office, said, "The Democratic Party is constantly obstructing us, so these days I can't sleep well at night," and criticized, "(The Democratic Party) pushes through with 168 seats, whether it's approving the Prime Minister or anything else."
He went on to argue that local power must be regained to achieve a complete regime change.
Floor leader Kwon said, "We must regain local power so that the Democratic Party truly reflects, repents, and changes its attitude," adding, "This time, starting with Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon, we must reclaim local power. Although the regime change has happened now, it is incomplete, meaning only half done."

On the same day, Yoon Ho-jung, co-chairman of the Democratic Party's Emergency Response Committee, voiced concerns about the new regime's attitude toward candidate Lee Jae-myung.
Attending the opening ceremony of Lee Jae-myung, candidate for the Incheon Gyeyang-eul by-election, Yoon emphasized, "Just as former President Park Chung-hee tried to kill former President Kim Dae-jung, and former President Lee Myung-bak tried to kill former President Roh Moo-hyun, President Yoon Suk-yeol must never try to kill candidate Lee Jae-myung."
He continued, "Since Lee is running in Gyeyang, the ruling party and those around the regime have been in an uproar, talking about 'bulletproof' protection," adding, "I thought these people tried every possible way to kill Lee Jae-myung, and when things became difficult, they started throwing tantrums."
Yoon also expressed confidence in winning the local elections.
He asked, "After the presidential election, many people said they didn't want to watch the news and turned off their TVs. But lately, don't you feel like watching the news?" and stressed, "Many are worried about losing in this local election, but with Lee Jae-myung, you don't have to worry about that."
