Selected as One of 29 Innovation Cases for 50+ Job Ecosystem Creation Efforts
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The Seoul 50 Plus Foundation announced on the 13th that its efforts to create a ‘50+ job ecosystem’ were selected as an innovative case in the Western Pacific Regional Innovation Challenge hosted by the World Health Organization (WHO).
In September last year, WHO launched the ‘1st Western Pacific Regional Innovation Challenge’ to discover innovative cases in the public health sector of the Western Pacific region.
A total of 468 cases were submitted to the ‘WHO Western Pacific Regional Innovation Challenge,’ and 29 cases, including Seoul’s ‘50+ job ecosystem creation,’ were selected as innovative cases. WHO formed a judging panel composed of industry experts from each country and evaluated the submissions based on five criteria: innovativeness, relevance, scalability, applicability, and impact.
This selection served as an opportunity to externally promote the innovativeness of various job projects that Seoul has been implementing for the healthy aging of the 50+ generation and to gain international recognition of their necessity.
In April, WHO held the ‘Western Pacific Regional Innovation Forum’ online, where the 29 selected cases were discussed in terms of how they could be applied to solve health issues in the Western Pacific region.
Im Seong-mi, Head of the Management Planning Division at the Seoul 50 Plus Foundation, said, “We are pleased that the 50+ job policies promoted by Seoul have been recognized as innovative cases overseas,” and added, “We will continue our efforts to establish a sustainable work and social activity foundation for the 50+ generation.”
