[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Chosun University Hospital (Director Kim Kyungjong) announced on the 12th that it successfully concluded the Medical Tourism Experts Symposium on the 11th at the Gold & Gradation Hall on the 1st floor of the Holiday Inn Gwangju Hotel.
Hosted and organized by the International Medical Center of the External Cooperation Office at Chosun University Hospital, and sponsored by Gwangju Metropolitan City and the Gwangju Medical Tourism Support Center, this event was held with great enthusiasm, signaling the recovery of daily life that had been subdued due to COVID-19.
This symposium was held as part of the recently selected “Regional Specialized Foreign Patient Attraction Base Strengthening Project” by the Ministry of Health and Welfare.
It focused on strategies to revitalize the medical tourism industry in the post-COVID and new normal era, as well as exploring medical tourism planning and marketing methods.
About 100 participants attended, including Min Youngdon, President of Chosun University; Kim Kyungjong, Director of Chosun University Hospital; Park Hyungju, Team Leader of Future Industry Policy Division of Gwangju Metropolitan City; Shin Samsik, President of Gwangju Medical Tourism Association; Park Yuhwan, President of Gwangju Medical Association; Son Mikyung, Director of Chosun University Dental Hospital; Kim Kitae, Director of Gwangju Medical Tourism Support Center; Lim Chaeim, Director of Gwangju Immigration Office; and various other figures and medical tourism experts.
In the first part, introductions were made of overseas medical staff training at Chosun University Hospital, and the appointment ceremony of Chosun Gat Trend Marketers was held.
In the second part, Son Mikyung, Director of Chosun University Dental Hospital, served as the chair, and Choi Jiyoon, Director of the External Cooperation Office at Chosun University Hospital, gave a keynote lecture on the “2022 Regional Specialized Foreign Patient Attraction Base Strengthening Project.”
Following this, lectures on strategies to revitalize the medical tourism industry were delivered sequentially by experts including Kang Kyungsook, Vice President of Nambu University; Jung Kyungmi, General Manager of Management Headquarters at Ciel Hospital; Jung Jincheol, Dean of Graduate School at Chosun University; Kim Yoseop, CEO of Deltode Co., Ltd.; and Hwang Yunyong, Director of the Knowledge Management Institute at Chosun University.
Kim Kyungjong, Director of Chosun University Hospital, said, “Over the past two years, we have faced many difficulties in revitalizing medical tourism due to the huge barrier of COVID-19. Through this symposium, we hope to raise the status and competitiveness of our regional medical tourism and open a new future by revitalizing the medical tourism industry.”
Meanwhile, Chosun University Hospital plans to establish a new model of medical tourism as a leading smart digital healthcare provider through key projects such as building an ICT-based non-face-to-face remote medical care business and developing a metaverse platform, in cooperation with Gwangju Metropolitan City and the Gwangju Medical Tourism Support Center.
Additionally, it plans to promote a new transformation of medical tourism business for the post-COVID era by developing a mixed treatment model (face-to-face and non-face-to-face), strengthening the foundation and competitiveness for attracting overseas patients, developing specialized medical technologies and expanding global networks, conducting online-based hybrid promotional marketing, and reinforcing local foreigner communities.
