Implementation of Cultural Arts Education in Six Fields Including Calligraphy, Wood Engraving, and Crafts Reflecting Regional Characteristics
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Hamyang Yongchu Art Valley Cooperative has been selected for the 2022 Regional Specialized Culture and Arts Education Support Project organized by the Gyeongnam Culture and Arts Promotion Agency in cooperation with Hamyang County.
The Culture and Arts Education Support Project is a competitive project that establishes a base by operating culture and arts education institutions and facilities at the basic unit level to create a self-sustaining foundation for culture and arts education.
The Gyeongnam Culture and Arts Promotion Agency finalized the target locations through document submission and presentation evaluations, targeting cities and counties in the Gyeongnam region with secured art group agreements and base spaces.
Following this selection, Hamyang Yongchu Art Valley Cooperative will receive a total project budget of 76 million KRW (60.8 million KRW from the provincial government and 15.2 million KRW from the county government) to promote culture and arts education programs in six areas: calligraphy, traditional wood carving, woodworking, leather crafting, early childhood art, and watercolor painting, utilizing excellent local craft resources and natural scenery. They plan to implement a model for culture and arts education base spaces through planned exhibitions and invitational exhibitions.
Park Yumi, CEO of Yongchu Art Valley, said, “We hope to provide opportunities for geographically marginalized groups to enjoy culture and arts education and for Yongchu Art Valley to become a place for professional course education and exchange for local creative artists.”
Yongchu Art Valley Cooperative operates the Yongchu Art Valley Museum located in Haweon-ri, Anui-myeon, offering various exhibitions and cultural activities, providing cultural spaces for Hamyang residents and greatly contributing to the development of the cultural industry.
