On the 12th, the Gwangju Western Police Station announced that it had arrested two men in their 60s on charges of fraud and violation of the Labor Standards Act.
They are accused of swindling about 600 million won from six victims over approximately one year starting from March 2019 by promising jobs at organizations affiliated with the Gwangju Metropolitan City Hall.
The victims, who were not hired, filed complaints with the Gwangju City government around November last year, and the city requested an investigation from the Western Police Station.
A, who played the role of the main perpetrator, admitted to his charges from the beginning to the police, but B, an accomplice who was responsible for recruitment, is reported to have denied his charges.
The police plan to transfer the case to the prosecution once the investigation is completed.
