Gochang Rural Film Festival Opens Call for Entries in 'Korean Feature Competition' Until September 1


[Gochang=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jaegil] The 5th Gochang Rural Film Festival is accepting submissions for the ‘Gochang’s Perspective? Korean Feature Competition’ category until September 1.


According to the county on the 12th, anyone who is a South Korean citizen aged 19 or older is eligible to submit.


The theme of the work is free or based on agriculture and rural areas, and only works completed after August 1 of last year with a running time of 60 minutes or more can be submitted. Additional points will be given to works filmed on location in Gochang.


Afterward, through the screening by film expert judges, four awards (Grand Prize, Director Award, Audience Award, Actor Award) will be selected and presented at the closing ceremony of the 5th Gochang Rural Film Festival.


Lee Moon-gu, Chairman of the Gochang Rural Film Festival Organizing Committee (Head of Nonghyup Gochang County Branch), said, “Through the Gochang Rural Film Festival, it will be a great opportunity to introduce feature films that express agriculture and rural areas from various artistic perspectives and communicate with the audience.”


The Gochang Rural Film Festival, now in its 5th year, is scheduled to be held for three days from October 28 throughout Gochang County.


Various programs such as drive-in cinema, feature and short film production contests and screenings of awarded works, movie talks with film directors, and live performances of movie OSTs will be held.


Park Sung-ki, Director of the County Agriculture and Fisheries Food Division, said, “It will be an opportunity to discover many film art works through the Korean Feature Competition category,” and added, “We will work with the organizing committee to ensure that works offering diverse perspectives on agriculture and rural areas are submitted.”


Meanwhile, the winners of the 4th Gochang Rural Film Festival Gochang’s Perspective - Korean Feature Competition category include the Grand Prize awarded to director Heo Jeong-jae’s ‘The First Child,’ the Director Award to director Hwang Jun-ha’s ‘Influenza,’ and the Audience Award to directors Lee Jae-eun and Lim Ji-seon’s ‘Kim Min-young of the Report Card,’ among others.
