Development of an Open Robotics Data Platform
[Asia Economy Reporter Cha Min-young] A private platform that allows intelligent robots scattered across the domestic market to share, process, and interconnect learned data will be established.
SK Telecom announced on the 12th that it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Integrit, an AI-based robotics platform specialist company, to develop an "Open Robotics Data Platform."
Integrit, the collaboration partner, is a robotics platform specialist company that recently launched the control system "Flyinglet" for real-time control and operation of robots, including data interconnection, compatibility, and upgrades of service robots, and supplied it to large-scale distribution companies.
SK Telecom and Integrit will standardize the data generated by intelligent robots and establish an "Open Robotics Data Platform" that enables interoperability between different robots. Furthermore, they plan to lead global standardization.
SK Telecom plans to combine its expertise in robot control, vision AI, cloud, location information, and security technologies with Integrit's platform to contribute to the development of an advanced open robotics platform.
Once the open robotics platform is applied, different intelligent service robots can share spatial and location information based on common standards, enabling more efficient robot utilization. For example, if 10 different robots are deployed in a large shopping mall, each robot previously had to learn the mall's structure and environment individually, but now they can share learned data to improve efficiency. Various business models, such as sharing or subscribing to expensive robots instead of purchasing them in large public or commercial facilities, can also be created.
Choi Nak-hoon, head of SK Telecom's Smart Factory CO, stated, "With the activation of the robotics industry, the development of an effective platform that can enhance connectivity and management efficiency among robots will become a core competitive advantage within the industry."
Lee Chang-seok, CEO of Integrit, said, "We will continue to contribute to building infrastructure that safely processes and utilizes spatial and location information collected by intelligent robots."
